WAKEFIELD — Board of Health holds discussion-focused meeting on kratom, alcohol, and rodenticide policies without formal action. Health Director Anthony Chui outlined concerns about kratom's opioid-like effects and unregulated sales; the board agreed to gather information from neighboring communities and Rhode Island. A presentation by Liz Parsons, Prevention, Outreach and Youth Services Manager, addressed alcohol's public health impacts, though Town Council retains authority over alcohol regulations.
The board discussed environmental concerns about rodenticide use and resolved a falsified ServSafe certification issue at Honey Dew Donuts on Main Street, where the restaurant subsequently obtained proper documentation and is operating with valid certification.
