Commission sets 2026 accessibility work plan and capital requests

WAKEFIELD — Commission on Disabilities sets 2026 accessibility agenda. Chair Lorna Davidson-Connelly led the Commission in directing staff to finalize the town's Transition Plan by March or April 2026 and authorized ADA Coordinator Bill Renault to request $50,000 in capital planning funds for gazebo accessibility improvements. The Commission prioritized several advancing projects: Colonel Connelly Park moving toward bid for accessible pathways and tables, the ACE Building pursuing $500,000 in state One-Stop grant funding for accessibility and cultural arts, and continued monitoring of accessibility improvements at Wakefield Memorial High School and the newly opening Voke-Tech School.
The Commission met with members Marie Rej, Charles Tuttle, Judith Tanner, Lois Benjamin, Daniel L. Benjamin Jr., and Janice Mirabassi present; Paul Paglierani was absent.
