Economic Development Council advances small business mentorship program

Wakefield Economic Development Council unanimously approves advancing new mentorship program for small businesses. The proposal presented by council member Tanya Walker would connect experienced business owners with new or prospective Wakefield businesses and pop-ups to provide guidance on permitting, finances, operations, and marketing through volunteer mentors. Director Erin Kokinda reported approximately 30,000 to 32,000 dollars in remaining ARPA funding across various programs and emphasized the importance of committing all funds before year-end.
The Council deferred a decision on extending Project Pop-Up through year-end at an estimated cost of 38,500 dollars pending review of additional performance and sales data.
