WAKEFIELD — Environmental Sustainability Committee hears transit and sustainability updates. Erin Kokinda, Director of Planning and Community Development, announced a year-long micro-transit pilot program launching June 1, with partial outside funding, using electric vehicles in designated zones during Monday-Friday 7am-7pm and Saturday 9am-4pm hours. Ann Waitt of the Department of Public Works reported nearly 10,000 pounds of cardboard recycled so far this year and 495 mattresses collected last year with 353 recycled.
The committee approved minutes unanimously and heard updates on recent successes including a well-attended fix-it clinic at Creative Chaos Emporium where nine residents had items repaired.
