WAKEFIELD — Environmental Sustainability Committee approves prior minutes, plans spring initiatives. The committee unanimously approved February and March meeting minutes and heard that the March 29 garden supply swap drew fifty participants, with Committee Member Tommy Frohlichstein presenting a map of pollinator garden sites on Wakefield's east side. Chair Tiana Veldwisch reported on upcoming Earth Day activities and announced the May 17 Fix It Clinic at Creative Chaos Emporium from noon to three p.m., a May 30 recycling collection with Representative Kate Lipper-Garabedian, and May 16 Warrior Clean Up crew tree planting work funded by a $1,500 grant.
DPW Representative Ann Waitt disclosed a pending $90,000 Green Communities grant application due April 10 supporting energy efficiency at the Public Safety Building and heat pump water heaters for six municipal buildings, including Town Hall, the Senior Center, and the Post Grad Academy.
