Finance Committee DPW subcommittee reviews FY2027 budget and warrant articles

WAKEFIELD — Finance Committee DPW subcommittee examines flat FY2027 budget and seven warrant articles. The subcommittee, led by Chair James Sullivan with members Christian Jensen and Ellie Zuccaro, found a 0.55 percent overall departmental increase as contract negotiations continue. The Snow and Ice budget requires a supplemental appropriation of approximately 650,000 dollars in the current year, with the FY2027 request holding at 850,000 dollars.

Sewer Enterprise faces a 2.28 percent increase driven by a 159,000 dollar MWRA assessment increase; Water Enterprise rises 2.73 percent despite a 73,000 dollar MWRA assessment decrease. The subcommittee reviewed warrant articles totaling 2 million dollars in borrowing for drainage repairs and water service line inventory.
