WAKEFIELD — Finance Committee reviews FY 2027 budgets amid $2.8 million deficit forecast. Chair James Sullivan's committee heard departmental presentations from Police Chief Steven Skory, Fire Chief Tom Purcell, and Town Accountant Liz Rourke, with the Fire Department requesting $7,966,688.09 (up 1.79 percent) citing overtime strain from 2,100 additional calls and long-term injuries, and a new Human Resources budget of $293,600.90 now separated from group insurance. Free cash at year end FY 2026 is estimated at $11.4 million.
