WAKEFIELD — Finance Committee reviews seven FY27 budgets totaling $11.1 million ahead of town warrant. Chair James Sullivan and 14 committee members heard departmental presentations: Police Chief Steven Skory requested $8,031,261 with grants of $302,197 offset by elimination of a recovery coach position; Chief Information Officer Todd Bowden presented $630,643 for IT, including phone-budget consolidation across schools and DPW and migration to Microsoft Teams; and Beebe Library Director Catherine McDonald sought $2,147,295 to meet state aid spending minimums and address HVAC repairs. Sherman reported the current-year deficit remains approximately $4 million despite projected cost-of-living adjustments.
