Fireworks Canceled Again, But Common Concert Proceeds As Planned
WAKEFIELD — The town's Fourth of July fireworks show was canceled again Tuesday evening, but the free concert on the Common featuring the Buckley Brothers Band and Dan Clark, "the Singing Trooper," went ahead as scheduled at 7 p.m., according to the town's News Flash feed.

The town announced Tuesday night that the fireworks display had been canceled, while confirming that the accompanying Common concert would proceed as planned, per the News Flash. Separately, the town is urging residents to take precautions during an extreme heat stretch, after the National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warning for Massachusetts.
A Fix-It Clinic is set for July 12, a community repair event where residents can bring broken small electronics, furniture, clothing, textiles, eyeglasses and jewelry for on-site repair advice, the town said. Several town committees also have meetings on the calendar this week, including the Permanent Building Committee Working Group Subcommittee, the Economic Development Council and the Environmental Sustainability Committee, all meeting Thursday, July 9.

The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library's Plaza Jazz series continues Thursday, July 9, at 6 p.m. with a performance by Annie and the Fur Trappers on the library plaza, with snacks and refreshments available for purchase from INspire Cafe. The library also offers drop-in Tech Help on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Lecture Hall, with 15-minute one-on-one appointments.
Looking ahead, bestselling author Karin Slaughter will join the library for a virtual talk on July 14 at 7 p.m., discussing her North Falls series; residents can register in advance to submit questions.
