WAKEFIELD — Housing Trust opts against expanding rental assistance funding. Senior Planner Marissa Meaney told members the Wakefield Rental Assistance Program functions as temporary relief rather than producing sustainable affordable housing, and additional funding would help only a handful of households. The Trust agreed to preserve capital for future projects.
The board also discussed a 400-unit residential development proposed by Lincoln Properties at Edgewater Place; Chair Gail Severt will draft a letter urging at least one building be designated 100 percent affordable.
