Library board shifts director review to annual cycle

Board of Library Trustees · Meeting of March 25, 2026

Wakefield library trustees shift director performance reviews from every three years to annually, timed before town elections to account for trustee turnover. The Board of Library Trustees completed Director Catherine McDonald's 2025-2026 evaluation on March 9, with most trustees responding that she met or exceeded expectations. McDonald's goals for 2026-2027 include building relationships with new municipal leadership and promoting staff professional growth, with monthly reporting required.

The board also unanimously approved $3,000 for 8 to 10 staff members to attend the Massachusetts Library Association conference May 18-19 in Danvers.
