Town Council approves four facility names at new high school

Wakefield Town Council names four spaces at new high school. The council voted unanimously to carry over historical names to the new Wakefield Memorial High School: the Sean Beasley Track and Field, the Governor Volpe Memorial Library, the Frank Charbonneau Gymnasium, and a cafeteria named for Dennis O'Leary. Chines explained the new building required an affirmative vote to transfer designations from the old facility. The council also approved seven FY 2027 municipal budgets totaling roughly $1.23 million unanimously, including a 19.95 percent increase in Election & Registration spending to cover three scheduled elections, and appointed Cara Nishino to the Human Rights Commission and Shelby Nikitin and Kevin Yost to the Veterans Advisory Board.
