Town Council approves kiosk policy revision, appoints board members, accepts donations

Town Council · Meeting of January 12, 2026

WAKEFIELD — Town Council unanimously adopts revised kiosk policy, appoints board members. The Council approved an updated Kiosk Policy replacing email submissions with online forms and adjusting posting timelines from "every Monday" to "based on availability" to match Department of Public Works capacity. The Council appointed Anna Rao and Mark Iafrate to the Housing Trust and Alfred Rosenthal and Robert McGuire to the Economic Development Council; the latter vote passed 6-1 with Councilor Brian Fox voting no due to conflicts-of-interest concerns about both appointees serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board.

The Council heard that a $1 million solar array at Galvin Middle School, 90 percent more powerful than existing systems, went live in December and will offset self-generated electricity costs substantially. The Council disbanded the Housing Production Plan Advisory Committee following Commonwealth acceptance of the housing production plan.
