Town Council approves ten FY27 budgets totaling $1.74 million.

WAKEFIELD — Town Council approves ten fiscal year 2027 budgets totaling roughly $1.74 million. All ten appropriations, ranging from the Tax Department at $341,558.96 to Professional Medical at $15,500, passed unanimously 7-0 under presentation by Acting Finance Officer Elizabeth Rourke. Building Commissioner Ben DeCristoforo reported 2,108 total permits issued in calendar 2025, a 134 percent jump from approximately 900 in 2024, prompting Town Administrator Denise Y.

Casey to order a fee-schedule review for alignment with comparable communities. The Council also unanimously set the Annual Town Meeting for Monday, May 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Galvin Middle School Auditorium, opening the warrant February 9 and closing it March 13 at noon.
