Wakefield Veteran Advisory Board approves May VSO report and summer pause on coffee socials. Chair Kevin Yost presided over the six-member board, which unanimously approved VSO Mangan's monthly report detailing the May 20 Greater Boston Food Bank and Wakefield Food Pantry drive serving 32 veterans and their families, a May 16 veterans coffee social featuring Office of Veterans Advocacy representative Clifford Coy and Lowell VET Center psychologist Dr. Elisabeth Parrot discussing VA clinical trials for PTSD treatment.
The board confirmed the May 25 Memorial Day ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on the Upper Common, themed "Fighting for Freedom for 250 Years," with Regent Gail Cassarino of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as honored guest speaker; Chair Yost will call for additional volunteers. The board voted unanimously to enter a summer hiatus for July and August.
