Veteran Advisory Board · Meeting of January 20, 2026

WAKEFIELD — Veteran Advisory Board unanimously approves relief fund payment and Memorial Day plans. The board authorized a one-time $5,150 payment from the Veteran Relief Fund to a Wakefield veteran at risk of losing his home after legal expenses drained his savings; the Veterans Services Officer noted the recipient, a single father, had recently won custody of his son. The board also voted unanimously to adopt "Fighting for Freedom for 250 years" as the theme for the May 25, 2026, Memorial Day Ceremony at the Upper Common.

The relief fund currently maintains a balance of $22,333.64.
