Veteran Advisory Board approves VSO report and plans 2026 Memorial Day ceremony

Wakefield Veteran Advisory Board moves forward with Memorial Day ceremony planning. Chair Kevin Yost's board unanimously approved the February Veterans Services Officer report detailing a food bank distribution serving 30 veterans and families, a coffee social focused on scam prevention, and an upcoming podcast with Vietnam veteran Sgt. Paul Hemphill.

The board set the 2026 Memorial Day ceremony for May 25 at 1 p.m. at the War Memorial, with theme "Fighting for Freedom for 250 Years," and tentatively scheduled grave flagging at Lakeside Cemetery for May 18 and Forest Glade Cemetery for May 22, both at 3 p.m. A moderator and guest speakers for the ceremony remain to be determined.
