Wakefield Town Council names high school court for coach, orders town land restored. The council voted 7-0 to name the Wakefield Memorial High School basketball court for retired coach and teacher Brad Simpson, with Councilor Fox saying, "I couldn't be happier having you as a teacher and a mentor." Separately, the council voted 7-0 to let a homeowner access town-owned land near 10 Fourth Street to restore roughly 5,000 square feet of wetlands disturbed while building a playground for a for-profit daycare; Councilor Butler called the response "particularly harsh," while Councilor Fox asked "if there's any punishment for these actions other than resetting it." Members also began planning a nine-member Charter Review Commission, tabled a proposed council interview subcommittee for board appointments, approved a $1 million transfer to debt service, and bonded to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority.
