Wakefield DPW To Clear Invasive Plants Along Quannapowitt Parkway
WAKEFIELD — Wakefield's Department of Public Works will remove invasive vegetation along the Lake Quannapowitt walking path on August 26, targeting growth in front of 200-400 Quannapowitt Parkway. The work is one of several town and library items announced this week, alongside two new fall author talks at Beebe Library and a debate between the state's two leading US Senate primary candidates.

Vegetation removal crews will work along the Quannapowitt Parkway stretch of the Lake Quannapowitt walking path on August 26, according to the town's website. The work targets invasive plant growth in front of 200-400 Quannapowitt Parkway and is expected to affect walkers using that section of the popular lakeside path.
Separately, Wakefield's Town Administrator held drop-in office hours on August 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Inspire Cafe on Main Street, giving residents a chance to raise questions or concerns in person.

Beebe Library has added two author talks to its fall calendar. Acclaimed novelist Lucy Foley will discuss her newest Miss Marple mystery in a virtual conversation on August 27 at 2 p.m.; residents can register in advance to submit questions. The library's Plaza Jazz series also returns to Thursday nights on September 3 at 6 p.m., with drummer and composer Lee Fish performing on the library plaza.
