Wakefield Fireworks Won't Be Rescheduled This Summer
WAKEFIELD — Town Hall confirmed this week that Wakefield's Independence Day fireworks display will not be rescheduled this summer, with organizers already looking ahead to next year's show. Elsewhere, the town's library wrapped its summer season with an author talk, a jazz performance and a scratch-ticket jackpot made headlines at a local store.

The town announced this week that the Independence Day fireworks show will not be rescheduled this summer. Town Hall said it looks forward to partnering with the West Side Social Club again next year to bring the display back.
Separately, the town administrator will hold drop-in office hours Friday, August 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Inspire Cafe, 411 Main St. Residents with questions about municipal operations, concerns or new ideas are invited to stop by.
Wakefield voters should also note the state primary is set for September 1, 2026, with early in-person voting options available ahead of Election Day.

The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library closes out its nine-week semiquincentennial speaker series Monday, August 17, at 7 p.m. with presidential doodler Heather Rogers, who will discuss lesser-known Revolutionary War figures in a program titled "Boiling Water, Tall Boy, Two Kettles Together, and The Old Puritan."
The library's Plaza Jazz series continues Thursday, August 20, at 6 p.m. with a performance by vocalist Rhiannon Hurst, an award-winning singer who began performing at age 16. The library also offers drop-in tech help Wednesday, August 19, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Lecture Hall, with 15-minute one-on-one appointments.
