Wakefield Town Council approves three farmers market alcohol licenses with sampling allowed
Town Council · Meeting of May 18, 2026
Wakefield Town Council approves three farmers market alcohol licenses with product sampling, reversing prior prohibition. The 7-0 votes covered Bliss Point Meadery, Saltbox Cider Shop LLC, and Time and Materials Beer Company, with owner Jeff Venuti noting Wakefield was the only market among 35 he participates in that had banned tastings. The Council declined to direct Town Counsel to petition the state Cannabis Control Commission for an adult-use cannabis delivery waiver, citing enforcement challenges despite historical town opposition to marijuana.
In organizational business, Jonathan P. Chines was unanimously confirmed as Chair and Stacey Constas as Vice-Chair.
