Wakefield Conservation Commission to Unveil Proposed Wetlands Bylaw at July 7 Forum
With Independence Day around the corner, the town has published its activity schedule and parking information for the holiday, while the Conservation Commission moves to strengthen local environmental protections ahead of a July public forum.

Wakefield's Conservation Commission will hold a virtual public information presentation on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 7 p.m. to introduce a proposed Wetlands Protection Bylaw. The session is intended to give residents an overview of the proposal before any formal action is taken.
The town has also released its Independence Day activity schedule and parking information for the July 4th holiday. Residents can find the full schedule on the town's official website at wakefield.ma.us.
A new display honoring a local World War II veteran is now on view at the Americal Civic Center. The uniform of Pfc. Joseph E. Rapallo has been placed in the Heritage Room, a donation from the veteran's family.
Looking further ahead, the town announced that Town Day on the Common is set for Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. Vendors, organizations, and community groups interested in participating are encouraged to review the town's notice.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library's summer calendar is in full swing. This afternoon, the weekly Crafty Crochet & Knitting Club meets at 11 a.m. in the lecture hall for those who enjoy knitting, embroidery, crocheting, and related crafts — all are welcome to drop in.
On the adult programming side, the library is running a summer reading game called Libraryland, encouraging adults to log reading time for rewards. Music Bingo is also on the schedule for the season.
Plaza Jazz returns to Thursday evenings starting July 9, when Annie and the Fur Trappers take the outdoor plaza stage. INspire Cafe will offer snacks and refreshments for sale during the performance.
