WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield School Committee rated Superintendent Douglas Lyons proficient or exemplary across all four evaluation standards ahead of a May 4 town meeting vote on the district's level-service budget. Business Administrator Christine Bufagna reported $771,189 in available budget with revolving accounts hovering just above $3 million. The committee accepted a $6,603 donation from the Wakefield Track Boosters Club for assistant track coaches, approved payroll warrants 38 and 40, and tabled the JKAA restraint policy for a vote at the April 29 meeting.
Vice Chair Stephen Ingalls called the composite evaluation "uniform," while member Kevin Piskadlo credited Lyons with creating "a culture here where our leadership stays." Chair Amy Leeman said the budget reflects "level service," meaning no new programs beyond current offerings. The new Wakefield Memorial High School remains on schedule and on budget for a January move-in.
