Wakefield High School offers farewell tours before demolition
Wakefield Memorial High School will open for farewell tours Nov. 20 and 21 before the building is demolished, with a suggested $20 donation benefiting the Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield.
The Town of Wakefield announced Oct. 30 that Wakefield Memorial High School will host farewell tours before the building is demolished to make way for a new facility.
Tours are open to alumni, families, former faculty and other community members and will be held Friday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the school, 60 Farm Street. The tours give residents a last chance to walk through the classrooms, hallways and athletic spaces before the old building comes down.
Registration is encouraged so organizers can plan the event. Residents can register online or by contacting Laurie Pesaturo at (781) 246-6440.
Organizers are requesting a suggested donation of $20 per person, with all proceeds going to the Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield, a nonprofit that provides need and merit based financial aid to help local graduates pursue higher education. The foundation will also sell commemorative items during the event to support scholarship funds.
Information about the new high school building, including updated photos and videos, is available on the building project website. Students are scheduled to move into the new facility in January.
