WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Town Council voted 6-0 to approve a 21-employee union contract, a wetlands bylaw update, and several traffic-safety measures. Town Administrator Dee Casey presented a tentative agreement with the Municipal Administrative Supervisory Professional Employees Association, including 2.5 percent annual raises and new performance evaluations; Vice Chair Constance separately reported Casey earned an aggregate score of "3.54 out of a possible four" in her first review, triggering a 2.25 percent raise. Conservation Commission members Eleanor Axelrod and Jennifer Fanning briefed the council on a proposed wetlands bylaw that would align Wakefield with "83 percent of Eastern Massachusetts" communities, headed to fall town meeting without a council vote.
The council also approved letters of support for the town's 2024-2031 open space plan, new speed-feedback signs on Montrose Avenue, street lights, rail-trail stop signs, and licenses for Beantown Collectibles and a Halloween Hustle liquor permit, all 6-0, with Councillor Butler absent.
