WAKEFIELD -- June 24, 2026, Wakefield Select Board convenes and immediately adjourns after a Juneteenth holiday miscalculation forced a two-day rescheduling. The board's regular Monday, June 23 session was moved to Wednesday, June 24, after staff posted the agenda on Thursday, June 19, leaving fewer than 48 working hours' notice once the Friday Juneteenth holiday was factored in. A staff member explained to Counselor Fox, who had fielded constituent questions about the change, "We basically forgot to count the Juneteenth holiday." No substantive business was conducted; the board adjourned at 8:12 p.m. on a motion by Counselor Carney, seconded by Counselor Wall. The chair noted that liaison assignments for the new term remain pending and that the next regular meeting is set for July 20.
