Intersection Safety Work Set To Begin July 13 Amid Heat Warning
Town officials are urging residents to prepare for a run of extreme heat this week even as work crews prepare to close in on a long-awaited intersection safety project, while the Wakefield Rotary Club installed new leadership for the coming year.

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Massachusetts, and the town's News Flash advises residents to take precautions as high temperatures continue this week, according to the town's official alerts.
Separately, road crews will begin work July 13 to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection of Oak Street, Green Street, and Greenwood Avenue, the town announced. Residents should expect construction activity in that area starting next week.
The town also flagged a Fix-It Clinic set for July 12, a community event where residents can bring broken household items — including small electronics, furniture, clothing, textiles, eyeglasses, and jewelry — for repair and advice from volunteers.

The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library's Plaza Jazz series continues Thursday, July 9, at 6 p.m. with a performance by Annie & the Fur Trappers on the library plaza; INspire Cafe will sell snacks and refreshments during the show.
The library's Crafty Crochet & Knitting Club meets Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. in the lecture hall for knitters, embroiderers, and crocheters of all skill levels, part of the library's ongoing weekly programming.
Looking ahead, the library will host an author talk with Karin Slaughter on July 14 at 7 p.m., a virtual event centered on her North Falls book series; residents can register in advance to submit questions.
