Wakefield Select Board Approves IT Budget, Easement, and Licenses in Unanimous Session

WAKEFIELD — February 23, 2026 — Wakefield Select Board passes seven unanimous votes in compact February session, flags EPA stormwater compliance deadline. The board voted 7-0 on each item at the February 23 meeting, approving the fiscal year 2027 IT department budget, accepting a public-access easement at 200-400 Quannapowitt Parkway, designating the chair as signing authority for Local Initiative Program affordable housing applications at 610 Salem Street, and issuing a one-day special alcohol permit for a March 21 Inspire Cafe fundraiser at the Wakefield Bullet Room. Town Engineer Bill Renaud told the board the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency contacted Wakefield in November 2025 demanding modifications to the town's Stormwater Bylaw to maintain its federal MS4 permit, telling members, "You'll have the bylaw submitted for town meeting." The board also approved a common victualler license for the Remedy Exchange at 41 Tuttle Street.
