Wakefield Zoning Board approves electric-vehicle charging station and residential projects. The board unanimously granted a special permit to Ionna LLC for a 24-hour electric-vehicle charging station at 525 Salem Street, imposing 15 conditions including dimmable lighting reduced after 11 p.m., security cameras, and sidewalk construction with an easement to the town. All five regular voting members supported the decision after receiving clearance from town departments and the Traffic Advisory Committee.
The board separately approved special permits for an 800-square-foot accessory dwelling unit at 48 Friend Street and a variance for a garage addition at 60 Green Street, both with neighbor support. A continued hearing on Pack Self-Storage of Wakefield LLC's five-story self-storage facility at 50 Quannapowitt Parkway was extended to April 8, with the applicant presenting an updated design reducing building height by four feet and total square footage from 116,000 to 99,000 square feet.
